Chalkboard Pinball Creator was released a few days ago, from old-school developer Pangea Software. The tables are admittedly simple, and there aren't modes or multiballs, but it has some interesting features. It has a multiplayer element, with up to 4 players playing at the same time, and a table-creation mode. There aren't a whole lot of players right now, so the multiplayer isn't really working very well right now, but it's free, so hopefully that'll change soon.
In the multiplayer mode, you share the same table and the same flippers, and you control a differently-colored ball. You play for a certain amount of time, and whoever has the highest score in the end is the winner. I haven't played with that creation mode yet, but it looks pretty basic.
So... nothing earth shattering. But it's ad-supported and free, so give it a go.
Irrelevant personal side note: On day one of the App Store, Pangea's Enigmo was one of the first apps that I bought. Along with Super Monkey Ball, and a bunch of other $10 games, it was a very expensive day!
