playing on my mac pro 10.8 quad core intel the speed is ok. Playing on macbook pro 10.10 intel core i5. The ball goes absolutely nuts. Its so fast its hard to follow and then will sometimes inexplicable slow down just as its about to reach the flipper. Is there a setting or anything I can do to make this better? Thanks in advance

it seems to be an issue with yosemite itself, some people have some luck with various workarounds your milage may vary.
as it stands it doesnt seem like there been a fix yet.
