Tourney 2016-1-14 ???

I didn't read anything about a new Tourney for a while but when i clicked the grey button ten minutes ago, there was a Tourney but I could only choose between these four tables: TAF, TZ, STNG,T2 .
( I own all seasons)
Is FS testing something and I was just lucky to push the right button at the right time?..

No, you must have given at least $15 (I think) to the Doctor Who kickstarter! This tourney is a "reward", notice these are the four kickstartered tables.

Wow, thank You. I don't know why I didn't ever receive an email nor the monthly newsletter by FS.
But no time for crying and complaining now, I'll have to let some balls go now

So should I not have been able to play as I have not donated to the kickstarter yet?

The tournament seems free. At least I'm able to play without paying for the kickstarter. Some problems with the web score page, all scores are not visible...

Something similar went down durring the Addams Family kickstart. If I remember correctly the tourney is open to all who own the tables, I think they may award prizes/ a prize, a ball pack or somthing, to the top player(s) who were also a part of the kickstart

The top 10 of the tourney during the TAF Kickstarter received a $1.99 ball skin each.

This is the least interesting tourney yet due to only four tables, and three of them having appeared in recent tourneys. I hope its length doesn't preclude the usual monthly tourney, but I seriously doubt that Farsight has the ability to run concurrent tourneys. I hope I'm wrong...

Agreed. A very long tournament with just the 4 Kickstarter tables. Keep telling myself to let it go and come back at the end but my tourney addiction overrides my brain every time. Can t help myself from trying for a higher score.
I don't think Farsite has ever run a regular monthly tournament on top of a Kickstarter tournament either.

In fact, the TAF kickstarter tourney was supposed to be open only to the backers of the previous kickstarter tables (TZ, STTNG, T2). But something went wrong (as usual with FS), and the tourney was opened for everybody at the launch.

Only the 1st rank in each tier was awarded with a poor and cheap ball skin (which is a shame when seeing how hard is to finish first).

And knowing that FS offers free table packs (lottery) during their Twitch streams...

I'm probably already done for this tournament. No desire to go back an try for better scores on any of the 4 tables, even though I know in most cases I could do it. (TZ might be the exception. 2.2B is a very good Non-Tarek/Dizzer score.)

No, no it is not.

To make matters worse / more confusing, the Blah Cade Tournament this month will have T2 and STTNG in it.

What a sham......they could have such a great fanbase yet they insist on doing things like this.......just pick some damn table and run tourneys....do it every couple of weeks.........what the hell.....oh wait we have to fund your company to produce your next table and make a bunch of money...hold up everyone throw more money at them!

So I've played a fair amount this tourney, maybe 1/4 as often as in the normal tourneys. Contrary to what I said before, I enjoy each of these four tables so much that even if three of them are repeats, and T2 has a super-simple strategy, now I'd put this tourney near the middle of the pack, ahead of the tourneys with tables like LCA, TeedOff, HarleyD, and HH, that I just don't care so much for. I've got ranks (in PC Gold) of #3, 3, 4, and... #9 on my bane, The Addams Family. I have not been able to figure TAF out. At least I've been able to improve from my 706M from Oct/Nov (which was #7) to 891M.

I know about Tarek's strategy of M+ with max Graveyard. I've tried doing that with many games the last few days, and I can't get it to work for me... I can't hit the side ramp nearly well enough, and lose too many balls. I think my max points trying this way would be about 750M... I haven't finished a game with it since I got the 891M early in the tourney.

So, yesterday I turned to my new hero, [MENTION=5727]Voof[/MENTION], and his twitch tourney games. Looking at his HS and/or Xenon helped me in the last one. Voof has his big 1274M TAF game on twitch at http://www.twitch.tv/voovoof/v/37266445 - it starts at 4:50. I watched through 12:10 remaining, and made a few notes on his game...

15:03 - 72M, 11 Rooms, no balls lost
14:51 - Tour the Mansion
14:08 - 4X
13:32 - Graveyard at 2.6M
13:10 - 5X
12:12 - in TtM, is playing Tunnel Hunt and Seance
12:10 - 352M, 1st drain, bonus 97M, note: he flexes the Chair kickout up the ramp

352M at 12:10, and the other things, are very close to what I've done so far. I'm very interested to continue and find out how this becomes 1274M. Maybe I'm mistaken that I've gotten this score by this time, but I don't think I'm too far off, anyway.

Its definitely a hard table for me to score on as well....I think I try to do too much....maybe I will try this millions plus strat...

Hey Invitro, glad I could help you and thanks for checking it out!, I screwed up a lot on that game, typically I don't full plunge on purpose, I was having fun. I remember near the end I screwed up a good 100-200m in shots between multiplier and graveyard shots. Was a solid game though and gives you a good idea with where I try for my points.

I'm mixing up attempts, was unable to stream my top game due to latency issues, that was the game I finished badly and could have had 1.4-1.5b. The game you are referencing was my first attempt I think.
