Does anyone know if it's possible to build a custom pinball controller for the PS3?

Without looking into it, it *should* just be two push to make switches connected to the correct pins on a USB connector. Mount the switches on the side of a piece of wood and paint etc.

Has anyone already done/attempted this?

Regards

For the Xbox 360, the controllers are signed so that you have to use authentic/official/authorized controllers with it. Not sure if the PS3 is the same way, but you might have to sacrifice an actual PS3 controller and wire your buttons to its guts to make it work. You could always try a generic USB pad with the PS3 and see if it does anything. Other than that, it should be entirely doable. Someone here had posted a pic of a custom controller in another thread with a plunger control and everything. If you do attempt it, be sure to post pics so we can see your handiwork!

I toyed with this idea of building somthing to house my controller and have a cantalever sytem to push the buttons from farther out with spring loaded buttons, as for bumping the table...Im not sure yet. But Id love for a company to make somthing for a table top the same average width of a machine with some weight, real arcade buttons with motion and vibration.
