i'm thinking of buying a ps4, I have everytable on ps3, do I have ti buy them all over again? also, how is playing TPA on ps4 different then playing on ps3?... is the sound quality better? I often wondered if buying the pro upgrade for a table has any other benefits then just the coin door, does the pro version improve sound quality?

Unfortunately I believe you have to buy everything again.

There is no improvement on the audio that I'm aware of, they only have two sound packs across all platforms - mobile quality and normal quality. They even accidentally used the mobile pack on PS4 at one point. (fixed now)

The graphics are a massive improvement though, but personally I have moved over to PC as my TV has too much latency plus it prevents any future problems moving over to newer hardware.

You can actually get 50% off of Season 1 IF you've already purchased most of them for the PS3 (IIRC) or if you purchased the Complete Season (for the PS3). Farsight has put Season 2 & 3 on sale for 50% last August, and I'm holding out for another sale someday.

The graphics on most tables are a nice improvement, primarily with the lighting and the smoother frame rate. The texture quality for the table graphics looks about the same, but the smoother polygons (on rails, toys, ramps), along with the lighting improvement helps it all look nicer.

Unfortunately the sound has either remained the same, or worse yet, now has audible clicks and other annoyances. Farsight said fixes are on the way, but can't give us a concrete date on when this might happen.

So, to sum my experiences up...

PROS:
Improved lighting on the PS4 with the ability to switch between 3 preset room lightings (dark, neutral, & bright).
The Dual Shock 4 is much more comfortable than the DS3. My fingers don't slip off the triggers nearly as much.
Rock solid 60fps @ 1080p
The ability to record videos of your game play with the PS4 Share button.
You can mix in your own music via the Media Player (mp3) or Spotify streaming. Very nice for older EM machines without much sound.
Flipper "3.0 Physics". Big Shot is currently the only older table (season 1) which had this feature added, but Farsight promises a complete rollout, again, we haven't had any info on when this may be. It makes a huge difference IMO. It really is amazing how much better it feels. It allows you to pull off moves such as Drop Catches like a pro. This isn't even possible on the older physics.

CONS:
Having to buy all of the tables once again. 50% discount on S1 (if purchased on PS3).
No FRIEND sorting on leaderboards... Not sure why this still has not been fixed?
Season 2 has no trophy support. I was hopful they would have come up with a solution by now.
The sound is buggy on quite a few table's.
Table graphic artwork assets looks about the same.
No Stereoscopic 3D support as on the PS3 version. I'm hoping they will add PSVR support.

Here are some quick table game play examples on the PS4 which I've recorded using the PS4's internal Share to YouTube function.
They were all played using the latest software update (as of 4/1/2016).

Strangely, the audio bugs don't show up on the PS4's internal recording feature so I'm guessing this bug happens at some point during the digital to audio conversion. Perhaps Farsight can use this information to their advantage?

Is only Season 1 on PS4 discounted for PS3 owners? Not the subsequent seasons as well?

Yes, that's correct.

You may want to hold off on moving your Pinball Arcade experience to the PS4 until Farsight releases the promised update.
Many of the tables have very buggy sound issues. I'm not sure if that would bother you or not.

Thanks for this input. Unfortunately, I sold the PS3 to buy the PS4. So I have signed up for Season 5 again, but I will re-purchase only my very favorite tables from the previous seasons...

It's really annoying that FS didn't offer a better deal for PS3/4 transitions...

With this game the best option is PC/Steam. Sell the PS4 build a budget PC. Earlier updates and fixes.

Not to start a PC vs console war, but the PS4 has a lot of great games worth owning the console for. I have a lot of games on Steam, but I still play the PS4 quite a bit more.
They have some great exclusives:

Alienation
Amplitude
Bloodborne
DriveClub
Gravity Rush Remastered
Killzone Shadow Fall
MLB The Show 2017
Ratchet & Clank
Resogun
Super Stardust Ultra
Tearaway Unfolded
Uncharted 4
Until Dawn

With a lot of great looking stuff on the way such as Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Days Gone, Last Guardian, Death Stranding, Detroit: Become Human, Gran Turismo Sport, Spider-Man (Insomniac), Shenmue III,

I'm hopeful that Farsight will release the patch they are working on to fix the audio glitching once and for all and then the tables will be great.
Let's not forget that sometimes PC games have glitches over the console versions. Batman: Arkham Knight is a glaring example of that.

Yeah, but I can't play Uncharted 4 on a PC...

That game is a technical marvel. The art design is gorgeous. I was very happy to see Naughty Dog send the series off on a very high note.

It's also a blast to play when you open up the modifiers.
I had too much fun here. :p

Thanks for that list of recommended PS4 games -- I will look into the ones that have one-year price drops... Incidentally, I haven't noticed the audio glitches in the PS4 tables that commenters here keep talking about; I think one of the tables had some strange clicks, but the others were fine...
