The Pinball Arcade Version 1.03

Main Menu / UI / All Tables Issues

• Splash Screen and Main Screen background music sounds muffled and has audible static.

• The Pinball Arcade logo at the top of all the menu screens in the main Options Menu is horizontally stretched and looks low res.

• The "X" input icon appears partially for a split second at the top left-hand corner of the screen when pressing "X" to start on the main splash screen and when selecting between the Main Menu and the My Tables screen.

• Challenges are not in...at least on the digital version. Not sure about the retail version as I have yet to purchase one.

• Hall of Fame Points are not in.

• If you have the game paused and your controller turns off, the game automatically resumes play.

• If you pause the game, hitting the “Share” button on the controller resumes the game while you’re still viewing the PS4 Share screen.

• UI sound effect is missing when scrolling through the goals under Standard/Wizard Goals in the Table Menu.

• Missing Invert Nudge option under Help & Options>Settings in the Table Menu.

• The tables on the leaderboards screen are not in alphabetical order.

• Friends leaderboards are not in...it’s not even selectable when toggling between “My Score” and “Overall” on the leaderboards screen.

• All the ball textures for the Season One custom balls under Extras>Custom Ball in the Table Menu look a bit dull and have no shine to them like all the other custom balls. However, they look fine when you actually use them on a table.

• The texture on the 8-Ball skin is stretched horizontally when using it on any table.

• Anti-aliasing needs to be applied or increased on all tables to reduce the jaggies when the camera is scrolling or flying over the table during the fly-over. The jaggies are especially noticeable on the wire ramps and habitrails when the camera is locked.

• All flyers are low res at varying degrees.

• Background music and sound samples have audible static at varying degrees on both the table select screen and in-game on all tables.

• On tables where there’s background music, the background music doesn’t stop playing when you activate a feature on the table and the feature sound sample plays. You can hear both the background music and activated feature sound sample playing at the same time. The background music should stop briefly while the activated feature sound sample plays.

• The camera on the fly-over screen becomes stationary when you return to the fly-over screen from the Table Exploration screen on all tables.

• Operator’s Menu Settings on all Pro Tables are not saved when you exit the table and return to the table select screen.

• Controller vibration is missing.

• Scripted tables don’t have a back space for initial entry. A back space is needed just in case the user selects the incorrect initial by mistake.

• When changing the Flipper Control to use the L2/R2 triggers for the flippers, you still have to use the L1/R1 shoulder buttons to input your initials on scripted tables. You should be able to enter your initials with which ever configuration you select for the flippers.

• The captive balls (on all tables that have them) are dull and lack reflection. The captive balls should have the same texture and reflection as the balls that roll around on the playfield.

• All tables with an event camera for the skill shot exhibit an issue where the camera tilts up and down slightly just after you perform the skill shot when you are using Camera 2 locked and the Event Camera is set to “Off”.

• Season 1 Ball Pack is selectable in-game but is not located on the PSN Store so the ball pack cannot be purchased.

• Pulling the plunger back before the ball settles in the plunger lane then releasing the plunger after the ball has settled results in a collision error where the plunger fails to plunge the ball into play.

Attack from Mars

• The screws are missing from all of the plastics on the table (slingshot plastics, inlane plastics, plastics under the wire ramps, etc.).

• Need to clean up the playfield artwork around the rubber posts of both the left and right slingshots...you can see objects that were photographed with the playfield that shouldn't be there.

• The lighting effect for Strobe Multiball is not in.

Big Shot

• Trade Mark missing from logo on the table select menu, fly-over screen and all in-game menus.

• The score reels on the hud should scroll downwards with a more snapping motion instead of the smooth scrolling motion it currently features.

• The inner and outer plunger rod springs are missing.

• The rubber tip is missing from the plunger rod.

• Slingshot animations are missing.

• There is Z-fighting just below the pop bumper cap which can be seen during the fly-over and when using camera 1.

• There seems to be lines popping up on the playfield just above the girls head on the right side of the playfield, to the left of the 8-Ball kick out saucer in the middle of the playfield and to the left and right of the 8-Ball graphic above the center roll-over at the top of the playfield.

Black Hole

• The backglass is not animated and is very low res.

• The plunger knob and plunger rod look black instead of chrome.

• The inner and outer plunger rod springs are missing.

• The Lower Level Bonus score display on the playfield is too bright and way too blurry and is pretty much unreadable.

• The numbers on the Lower Level Bonus score display should be a bit larger.

• Speech sound samples are missing : “Shoot captive hole” when in the lower playfield and when the blue captive hole cutout is flashing on the upper playfield and “Extra ball lit” when the red extra ball cutout is lit on the upper playfield.

• The lights in the pop bumper caps should not be casting any light onto the playfield...even in pitch dark.

• The shoot again “WHEN LIT” cutout between the flippers is a bit too bright when not lit.

• Draw order issue with the clear tube on the right where the ball re-enters the upper playfield. You can’t see the ball passing through it.

Black Knight

• There is a black transparent square over the left middle of the apron.

• The red numbered cutouts and the blue multiplier cutouts on the sword do not look like they do on the real machine when they light up.

• The lamp under the red plastic just to the right of the left ramp does not light up and may possibly be missing as well.

• When the Magna Save magnets are active and catch the ball, the ball should shake for a bit before coming to a complete rest.

Black Knight 2000

• The rollover sensors should be chrome instead of black.

• The Skyway Ramp flasher effect is missing from the entrance of the ramp.

• When the Magna Save magnet is active and catches the ball, the ball should shake for a bit before coming to a complete rest.

• If you pause the game after the normal background music has begun to play then return to the game, the background music and chorus sound samples will then be out of sync. You can test this by plunging the ball and cradling it on one of the flippers then pausing the game for about 10 seconds then return to the game and keep the ball cradled. Now wait for the chorus to come in and you’ll see that it begins playing at the wrong time.

Black Rose

• The DMD on the backglass has a light source shining on it that distorts the DMD’s natural color.

The Machine : Bride of Pin•Bot

• The scoreboard on the backglass is not working.

• The scoreboard does not display the Big Wheel award correctly.

• The inner plunger rod spring is missing.

• The texture on plunger rod cover is not scaled properly.

• The window on the plunger rod cover is too narrow.

• The rollover sensors on the inlanes and outlanes are not lined up correctly with the vertical cutouts in the playfield.

• There’s Z-fighting around all the skill shot lights under the habitrail on the right side of the table.

• The 300K Pin•Bot Value light on the back wall doesn't light up bright enough.

• The light bulbs that are supposed to be in the empty holes towards the bottom of both slingshots are missing.

• The rocket sticker on the left transparent ramp is low res.

Cirqus Voltaire

• The inner plunger rod spring is missing.

• The apron cards are low res.

• The rollover sensors should be chrome instead of black.

• There’s noticeable Z-fighting on the transparent High Wire Ramp when the camera is flying over the table during the fly-over and when you change camera angles during a game.

• There’s a white ring around the red cutout just below the roll-over sensor in the right outlane when it lights up.

• The neon light in the Neon Tube and Menagerie Ball never change to any of the other available colors.

• The orange lightning bolt stickers are missing from the top and bottom of the Neon Tube.

Creature from the Black Lagoon

• The DMD on the backglass has a light source shining on it that distorts the DMD’s natural color.

• The inner plunger rod spring is missing.

• The right instruction card is missing.

• The entire apron texture and left instruction card seem unnaturally lit.

• You can see the ball traveling under the playfield through the Creature Hologram window when the ball is being fed back to the right habitrail kick-out.

• Two roll-over sensors are visible through the Creature Hologram window when using Camera 4.

Elvira and the Party Monsters

• The arms on the Boogie Men should continue to wiggle for a bit after they stop dancing...like the animation that was done for the Martians on Attack from Mars.

Fish Tales

• The DMD on the backglass has a light source shining on it that distorts the DMD’s natural color.

• The ball shakes while its in the plunger lane waiting to be plunged.

• When a ball drains and all the lights on the table turn off, the light under the right plastic turns off, but the plastic stays lit.

Funhouse

• The scoreboard on the backglass is not working.

• The rollover sensors should be chrome instead of black.

• The skill shot needs to be re-tuned as it is extremely difficult (if not almost impossible) to achieve by the player adjusting the plunger strength.

• Slingshot animations are missing.

• The Mystery Mirror award collected from the Wind Tunnel only appears on the scoreboard display less than a second then disappears. When its displayed on the scoreboard display, it should stay on there for a few seconds with a faint strobing effect.

• The light from the playfield cutouts bleeds over too much onto the playfield and looks un-natural. The light from the light bulbs underneath the playfield shine upwards and should light the entire cutout and only bleed slightly onto the playfield around the cutout. The playfield lights on this table (and Monster Bash) need to light up more naturally like the playfield lights do on the rest of the tables

Genie

• The inner plunger rod spring is missing.

• The yellow “WHEN LIT” cutout in front of the four drop targets in the middle of the playfield is unreadable when it’s lit.

• There is a black transparent square over the Same Player Shoots Again “WHEN LIT” cutout between the main flippers.

Gorgar

• The outer plunger rod spring is going into the chrome faceplate (instead of stopping when it comes into contact with it) resulting in the plunger knob almost resting flush up against the chrome faceplate.

• The plunger rod is not properly lined up with the hole in the chrome faceplate which can be seen when you pull the plunger.

• The bar that runs across the back wall of the table in front of the grill should be chrome.

• The roll over sensors on both the right and left outlanes should be chrome instead of black.

• All three pop bumpers are lit when you start a game and stay lit for the duration of the game. They should be off at the beginning of the game and should only be lit one at a time by completing the GAR drop targets.

• The pop bumper rings should be the same color as the pop bumper rods which should be chrome instead of white.

• One of the lights under the left plastic, the light under the plastic behind the GAR drop targets and the left light under the plastic just to the right of the Snake Pit are not lit.

• The flasher under the Snake Pit plastic doesn’t fire at the appropriate times.

• The right inlane chrome rail has a stretched triangle shaped line on it that shouldn’t be there.

• The inlane chrome rails should only have one light on each side. The two lights under the inlane chrome rails that are closest to the flippers on both sides should not be there.

• The two lights under the inlane chrome rails farthest from the flippers on both sides are not lit.

• After completing the A-B-C rollovers for a second time to activate the 3X multiplier...the speech and the sound sample that plays when the A-B-C rollovers are complete are no longer audible for the rest of the current game. The heartbeat becomes inaudible as well, but becomes audible again after you drain the current ball and a new ball is ready to be plunged.

• When a drop target bank is completed, the third drop target (last drop target you hit) never drops when hit and the other two drop targets pop back up immediately. After hitting the third drop target, all three drop targets should stay down for a fraction of a second before resetting.

Harley Davidson : Third Edition

• The yellow “Ball Launch” button on the front of the cabinet is too bright in it’s off state and blown out in its on state.

• The DMD on the backbox has a light source shining on it that distorts the DMD’s natural color.

• The “Ride Again” cutouts just below the flippers are very low res.

• The “Electro Up Post” is lit when not activated and unlit when activated. It should only light when it’s activated.

Junk Yard

• The rollover sensors are black instead of chrome.

Medieval Madness

• The DMD on the backbox has a light source shining on it that distorts the DMD’s natural color.

• There are no vertical cutouts on the playfield where the rollover sensors are located. The rollover sensors seem to be placed on top of a solid playfield surface rather than fitted into vertical cutouts as they should be.

• The two red flashers on the back wall flash white instead of red.

Monster Bash

• The DMD on the backbox has a light source shining on it that distorts the DMD’s natural color.

• The playfield and apron colors look a bit washed-out.

• Slingshot animations are missing.

• The light from the playfield cutouts bleeds over too much onto the playfield and looks un-natural. The light from the light bulbs underneath the playfield shine upwards and should light the entire cutout and only bleed slightly onto the playfield around the cutout. The playfield lights on this table (and Funhouse) need to light up more naturally like the playfield lights do on the rest of the tables.

• The light source from the flashing lamp that’s supposed to light up the Mummy toy in the back of the playfield lights up the back wall just to the right of the Mummy instead. The light source from the flashing lamp needs to be re-aligned so that it lights up the Mummy toy when it flashes.

No Good Gofers!

• The DMD on the backbox has a light source shining on it that distorts the DMD’s natural color.

• The plunger rod is not modeled correctly (it has a stripped texture but should have a smooth texture like all the other plunger rods from the same era).

• The inner and outer plunger rod springs are missing.

• The window on the plunger box cover is not lined up with the plunger rod. You should be able to see the plunger rod through the window on the plunger box cover.

• Slingshot animations are missing.

• The “Shoot Again” cutout doesn’t lit up properly.

• The blue and red flashers at the top of the right blue transparent ramp and the blue and white flashers at the top of the left blue transparent ramp are always on. All flashers should be off by default and only flash when they are triggered by the ROM.

• The captive balls can’t be seen through the transparent plastic covering the captive ball space.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not!

• The DMD on the backbox is not working.

• The inner plunger rod spring is missing.

• The lamps on the back wall are not lit.

• There is Z-fighting in the Center Scoop.

Scared Stiff

• The DMD on the backbox has a light source shining on it that distorts the DMD’s natural color.

• The Spider Wheel award textures on the backglass are low res.

• The inner plunger rod spring is missing.

• The left red flasher on the back wall does not light up when you shoot the Bony Beast Ramp.

• There is a black spot floating in mid air in the middle of the playfield just to the lower left of the curve of the ball launch habitrail.

• The light coming from the three blue shield cutouts should not bleed out onto the playfield surface when they are at full brightness. Tales of the Arabian Nights

• The DMD on the backbox is not working.

• The plunger rod is too short and doesn’t reach the ball in the plunger lane.

• The inner plunger rod spring is missing.

Taxi

• The outer plunger rod spring is going into the chrome faceplate instead of stopping when it comes into contact with it.

• When shooting the right ramp, the wire gate on the inner loop feeding the top rollovers swings as the ball goes up the ramp.

Theatre of Magic

• The DMD on the backbox is not working.

• The texture for the top of the plunger box cover and the window to view the plunger are missing.

• There seems to be textures missing from the left back wall just below the green flasher.

• There is Z-fighting on the back wall green flasher when the camera is moving.

Twilight Zone

• The DMD on the backbox has a light source shining on it that distorts the DMD’s natural color.

• The inner plunger rod spring is missing.

• A post is missing from underneath the right slingshot plastic.

• The white flasher in the upper left-hand corner of the playfield is always on. It should be off by default and only flash when it is triggered by the ROM.

• The blue flasher in the upper left-hand corner of the playfield doesn’t seem to be firing.

• The ball should not be able to get stuck between the upper right flipper and the wall. This causes a game breaking issue if a ball gets stuck between the upper right flipper and the wall after all the flippers have gone dead when Lost in the Zone is complete.

WHO dunnit?

• Slingshot animations are missing.

• All transparent ramps and the elevator scoop ramp need more transparency. For example, the flashing pop bumpers should be more visible through the transparent elevator scoop ramp.

• Both spotlight lamps on either side of the table are missing. Only the posts for the spotlights are there.

• Nudging the table just as the End of Ball Bonus count-down begins (or during) causes the countdown to sound to repeat a few times before the each bonus appears on the DMD. The countdown sound should only play once before each bonus is displayed on DMD.

FlippyFloppy

I've posted some bugs/issues in the OP to get you started. I'll be posting any PS4 (NA) bugs/issues I find myself as well as other PS4 (NA) bugs/issues reported by other forum members that I can confirm.

I'll try to get the rest of the tables done within the next couple of days and will post anything new that I add to the OP in a post and notify you as well so you don't have to try and guess what I've added to the OP every time I update it.

BUG in STTNG pinball?

Hi, I was lucky to find this thread.
Has anyone reported problems with Star Trek The Next Generation not recording high scores?

I'll get a score high enough to be registered on the list, I enter my initials, then it shows the highscore list but without the newer score.
After that, it shows the score correctly for the current game.

It's done this several times (though not ALL the time).
I don't know if this is a real glitch or something with my system, but it's strange that it only happens sometimes... usually in the 10 billion point range.

Thanks in advance for any feedback,
Mark

I'm pretty sure it's a bug solely with PS4 because I'm yet to encounter it with any other version, but I'm pretty sure the skill shot on Funhouse (the first standard goal) is impossible. I tried around 20-30 times and it either didn't go around the orbit or it went too far.

I think you can check the trophies on PS4, is there a trophy for standard goals on each table and has anyone completed it for Funhouse on PS4?

When I get to the ST:TNG table, I'll be sure to check this out and add it to the OP if I can confirm that it is indeed a bug.

I have the trophy for the standard goals on Funhouse, but I didn't get the skill shot in the traditional sense...plunge, restart, plunge, restart...you get the picture. I'll test the skill shot a bit more and add it to the OP if tuning is needed.

Wellll ROM settings in Pro mode still don't save. For instance if you wanted to turn off extra balls on a table, you'd have to go and redo the ROM settings for that every time you came to the table from the table selection screen.

Thanks Wiz, it is a truly awesome table. I have the real-life version and the PS4 is pretty much spot on.
I just need for future historians to know who decimated my friends' scores. ;)

I actually have this trophy. Heck, I was the first one in the world to get it on the PS4...that and the wizard goals. I will admit that I had to restart the game like 20 something times until I actually got it. It was tough.

When I get to the ST:TNG table, I'll be sure to check this out and add it to the OP if I can confirm that it is indeed a bug.

After playing some more with STTNG, it looks like no new highscores are being recorded. I hope this is a software bug that will be corrected soon and not a problem with my ps4!

Is anyone else seeing the highscore glitch on Star Trek the Next Generation?

Thanks,
McFly

• The window on the plunger box cover is not lined up with the plunger rod. You should be able to see the plunger rod through the window on the plunger box cover.

• Slingshot animations are missing.

• The “Shoot Again” cutout doesn’t lit up properly.

• The blue and red flashers at the top of the right blue transparent ramp and the blue and white flashers at the top of the left blue transparent ramp are always on. All flashers should be off by default and only flash when they are triggered by the ROM.

• The white flasher at the bottom of the right blue transparent ramp appears to be lit even when it’s off.

• The “Trap Ready” cutout on the left side of the playfield is very blurry and unreadable in both on and off states.

• The selected award on the Whirlwheel doesn’t line up correctly with the “Wheel Value” cutout on the playfield.

• The front captive ball extends a bit past the rubber post that’s supposed to secure the balls in the captive space.

• The red flashers should flash as the ball passes by them when shooting either the Bony Beast Ramp or the right ramp. Currently, the flashers flash about a second after the ball passes by them.

Star Trek : The Next Generation

• Slingshot animations are missing.

• There is a black spot floating in mid air in the middle of the playfield just to the lower left of the curve of the ball launch habitrail.

• The light coming from the three blue shield cutouts should not bleed out onto the playfield surface when they are at full brightness. While the brightness of the three blue shield cutouts should illuminate at varying brightness, the light from these cutouts should only slightly light up the playfield around them when they are at full brightness.

• All rampsthe back of the elevator scoop ramp need more transparency. For example, the flashing pop bumpers should be more visible through the transparent elevator scoop.

Thanks PiN WiZ. I don't know if it's been fixed yet (haven't played in a while on PS4), but MM also has a huge circular "burn" look in the middle of the table. I've not noticed this on the PC or 360 versions.

Wow, I knew the PS4 version was buggy, but this list of bugs you're pointing out (respect for that BTW) is staggering to say the least.

And all this without the dreaded "sound bug". I hope you've at least "scratched the surface" so far.

I've been doing some investigating on the dark look of the area in the middle of the playfield on MM. As soon as I come to a conclusion on its presentation, I'll add it to the OP.

Also, not sure what you meant by "And all this without the dreaded "sound bug."", but the sound issue is listed in the OP as well and FarSight is well aware of it.

Also, the X input icon appears at the top left when selecting between the main menu and the my table screen.

This was an issue on the ps3 too.

I was just commenting on the sheer number of bugs. At the same time, I was complimenting you and indeed, the other people who are looking into all of these bugs and reporting them, including the sound which I know is being addressed. That includes the people of FarSight who desire to fix them.

Just wanted to make sure I understood you correctly and it's always my pleasure to do what I can to help enhance the overall experience of The Pinball Arcade. FarSight plans to address as many of the above bugs/issues as possible as time permits.
