As my first league game was cancelled I decided to venture out to play Pinball, I spent the afternoon playing Bram Stoker's Dracula, Attack from Mars, T2 and TZ.
Of course the purpose of this blog post is boast about my TZ prowess.
A few weeks ago now I managed #4 on the leaderboard after a good game and hitting LITZ, I didn't remain on there long until 'ASH' demoted me again. I've been trying for a few weeks to get back on there without much success. I only realised recently that Buy-in's don't disqualify you from the main leaderboard, so with this in mind, I gave it another go.
The table is a 5 ball game, the replay score is set at around 360 million so it's not a great feat to get a free credit which can then be used for the extra ball.
The table isn't exactly tournament standard, it doesn't seem like its pitched enough even though the legs are at full adjustment, balls get hung up on the spiral magnets even when they're not activated and the top right flipper needs adjusting as it doesn't sit fully down when its relaxed.
I played for what felt like an eternity, my main strategy was to forget about the skill shot and full plunge, those bumpers spell death for me many a time, full plunging works quite well as it means you can get control on the right flipper from the slot machine kickout then shoot the left ramp, then the right ramp to activate the lock.
The second lock ball requires both ramps to be hit again to re-light the lock before finally shooting the left ramp.
After the first multiball it requires you hit the right and left lamps again to light multiball.
This table seems to slow the passage of time, I could have sworn i'd been playing for about an hour but in reality, it
was only about 20 minutes, I ended ball 5 on 900 odd million with 2 credits, I pushed the extra ball button, "Greeeeeeeeed".
Immediately I saw extra ball was lit, I make the shot and relax a bit, I've now got 2 balls in hand and 4 door panels to go. The powerfield is lit, but the ball immediately drains out the bottom into the bumpers, ****!
Bumping the machine, convincing myself it's having an effect, the ball safely exits the bumpers.
The powerfield is still lit for another attempt, this time I make the top hole, awarding another door panel, ten million points.
I then go on to accidentally hit the slot machine and start GREED, I'm now only 2 shots away from LITZ, quite excited at this point, I then managed to get on to the powerfield again, I make the top hole for The Camera. Now I just need to start Hitch Hiker, a shot to the piano spins the reels and, what's this? LITZ? Looks like the Hitch Hiker light was burned out!
For the second time I've managed to hit the wizard mode on this table, after LITZ was complete I completed a couple more door panels and cashed in my bonus, I ended up on a rather respectful 1.5bn and 3rd on the leaderboard, hopefully this time I will remain on there for longer than a month.
