I love doing lists so decided to do one for the top 100 "rated" pinball lists from IPDB and/or Pinside that TPA doesn't have yet, did not include Fathom since it seems to be the sure shot for this month and any that would be in Stern's current stable like Data East or Sega. I did include Capcom and Stern Electronic tables in this list. (W)= Williams, (B) = Bally, (C) = Capcom, (G) = Gottlieb and (S) = Stern Electronics

Table Name IPDB/Pinside rank

1. Indiana Jones(W) 6/9
2. The Shadow(B) 20/31
3. Revenge from Mars(B) 35/42
4. Pinball Magic(C) 45/43
5. Congo(W) 48/41
6. Stargate(G) 26/84
7. Flash Gordon(B) 65/59
8. Joker Poker(G) 69/75
9. Banzai Run(W) 85/76
10. Corvette(B) 66/96
11. Johnny Mnemonic(W) 95/70
12. Demolition Man(W) 70/99
13. Sorcerer(W) 80/105
14. Embryon(B) 89/118
15. Mousin' Around!(B) 96/111
16. The Flintstones(W) 84/142
17. Barracora(W) 151/80
18. Skateball(B) 156/83
19. Medusa(B) 175/68
20. Dirty Harry(W) 150/100
21. Frontier(B) 195/74
22. Big Bang Bar(C) 223/48
23. Mata Hari(B) 100/181
24. Devil's Dare(G) 97/189
25. Seawitch(S) 207/92
26. Quicksilver(S) 249/66
27. Spirit(G) 242/90
28. Kingpin(C) NA/91

For those wondering, Space Station(W) was just outside both 100 rated lists at 101/116

Nice list, but it would take a heck of a Kickstarter to get “Indiana Jones”; and “Revenge From Mars” would probably require a TPA virtual reality engine to do right. “Banzai Run” would require some creativity due to part of the playfield extending into the backglass.

The rest of those tables — even the ones which require licenses, like “The Flintstones” — are probably doable. And, of course, rumor has it that “Big Bang Bar” and “Pinball Magic” are defenitely coming at some point.

Depends on what you'd consider "right", but just getting the visuals functional isn't all that complicated. In 3d rendering terms, the display is just one surface showing short low-res video clips. For RFM, implementing the whole Pinball 2000 hardware platform is the challenge.

“Banzai Run” would require some creativity due to part of the playfield extending into the backglass.

Cirqus Voltaire already did this.

So I trimmed out the licenses and we're left with these unlicensed tables - basically, we've got all the "best" unlicensed tables so far, certainly everything in the Top 30; not to mention the licensed ones:

3. Revenge from Mars(B) 35/42
4. Pinball Magic(C) 45/43
8. Joker Poker(G) 69/75
9. Banzai Run(W) 85/76
13. Sorcerer(W) 80/105
14. Embryon(B) 89/118
15. Mousin' Around!(B) 96/111
17. Barracora(W) 151/80
18. Skateball(B) 156/83
19. Medusa(B) 175/68
21. Frontier(B) 195/74
22. Big Bang Bar(C) 223/48
23. Mata Hari(B) 100/181
24. Devil's Dare(G) 97/189
25. Seawitch(S) 207/92
26. Quicksilver(S) 249/66
27. Spirit(G) 242/90
28. Kingpin(C) NA/91

Sorcerer really needs to be brought back. I still have Williams HoF on the PS3, with all wizard goals completed for all tables and some pretty good scores, but the PS3 is just a dust collector at this point. I'd happily start over on Sorcerer if it was added to Pinball Arcade - which if the updates keep coming it certainly should be at some hopefully not too distant point. And give us Jive Time back too, just for the fun of it. It's the last table after Sorcerer that was never re-released.

I, for one would prefer Jive Time and Ace High over Sorcerer, but bring them all back while they're at it!

Okay. But does that mean Tommy can *only* be included in SPA and not TPA ?
(PS: english is not my native language)

Yes, according to Farsight.

Classic (late 70s wary 80s) Stern Electronics pins are only speculated to be included in TPA based on the fact that Flight 2000 did not carry over in SPA.

I think we can safely count Capcom out of TPA, posssibly for good. That stinks because I'd like to see some still make it in. I am surprised though that Banzai Run has yet to be included-so many people are asking about that one and now I'm curious to see what I've been missing. I can only think of two reasons. 1) Farsight cannot find a BR in decent condition for a fair price, or 2) the upper playfield physics would be too difficult to replicate faithfully.

As for RFM, that's another one we will never see IMO. Imagine playing that one on a phone-splitting headaches, anyone?

RFM might be a console/PC exclusive, in my honest opinion. That hologram is going to be hard to see on a phone, let alone a tablet. Also, I'm not sure how much power these games actually require from the ROM.

In other words, not going to happen. Unless there's a separate game solely for Pinball 2000.

I actually played one at ReplayFX, and it felt weird how my head was very close to the backglass when compared to the other machines.

It's not a hologram. It's just a monitor reflecting off the playfield glass. In 3D rendering terms, it's just a surface within the cabinet to draw textures on. It'd be the same as the DMD being inside Cirqus Voltaire's cabinet or the little display at High Roller Casino's slot ramp.

Pinball 2000 runs on a PC platform, a Cyrix x86 CPU about equivalent to a 100 MHz Pentium 1. That might be within range to emulate for at least the hardware that SPA runs on. It might be done by abstracting some of the video rendering - pre-capture the video clips into a format that can be played back natively on the host device, as TPA already does with sound clips.

Also, the pinball 2000 games have not been successfully emulated so far. There are some recreations that work on some hardware, but those come with it's own OS (linux if I recall correctly) and everything.
