I played one of the Ghostbuster tables, worked out OK, but one time, I sent the ball up the left ramp, then the ball just kept going on the ramp to the right, and out of the machine, and on to the floor.

Looks pretty good, I haven't had time to play much, or to decide what machines to buy (of course I own them in the non VR version and in Pinball Arcade).

The x button resets your view, a few times it was too high for me, so I ducked down a bit and hit it again. The nudging is pretty cool, its the left toggle, so you can nudge 4 ways.

5 reviews so far, 2/5 stars aggregate. Teen rating for those who are taking note vs Pinball Fx3, which is same as non VR SPA. 3.5GB install download

i've bought AC/DC Premium (When choosing the song on dmd they are barely visible, besides this its beautifull and plays gr8). I was trying to buy ST, GB (both ver.), RBiON too - without success - ST LE showing some kind of error, rest of them make oculus menu inbisible, U can see only white bacground with lines (can"t even back to Oculus Home). Flippers are switched (1st-2nd), in SST both right flippers working simuntanously by press right grip, in challenge mode Harley Davidson hangs (just after shooting the ball from the plunger - i was trying few times)... besides this - loved.

Got it installed - have to sign into account to play which isn't really great for a free title. You literally can't do anything until you log in. even when you've logged in and it's saved your log in info, the button still says Login to start the game. Not Start. Not Play. Login. Creating an account before you can do anything in game is just going to have people install and walk away. That's the biggest gripe on the Oculus store reviews and i can see why.

The good news is that we get the LE versions of the new-for-SPA releases. The bad news is that each one is $10. Contrary to the press release, there are no $5 tables. Whoa Nellie and Big Buck Hunter aren't in here either. I put a table list below. The token system is, um, not interesting to me yet. Maybe it will interest me later. It's a completely different model than I'm used to for Digital pinball. I just want to just dive in and play not have to worry about some other mechanic, so I'm naturally turned off by it.

It plays well. Graphics are gorgeous. I could bend down and read the text on the instruction cards. The immersion is so good that using the rift touch controllers kind of takes you out of it. You're standing right there at the table and yet you want to reach down and grab the side or pull the plunger but can't. VR is still the best way to play virtual pinball and it shows well here. Speed is a little, I'll call it, spongy. I'm not well versed enough on any of these tables in TPA or SPA to tell you if it's better or different than those.

The In game leaderboards are the same ones for non VR. So much for my chance to get top 10 because only 9 people bought the game.

Table Price
Frankenstein Free
RBioiN $9.99
Starship Troopers $9.99
Last Action Hero $9.99
Phantom Opera $9.99
High Roller Casino $9.99
Harley Davidson $9.99
AC/DC Premium $9.99
AC/DC: Back in Black $9.99
AC/DC: Let There Be Rock $9.99
Ghostbusters Premium $9.99
Ghostbusters LE $9.99
Mustang Premium $9.99
Mustang LE $9.99
Star Trek Premium $9.99
Star Trek LE $9.99

Ok. Now I waited to post and now I've gone and looked at the tokens. Not my thing but neither is dropping $150 for tables that aren't at the top of my must play list either.

You start with 500 tokens.
It's 50 tokens to play one game on any table you don't own. You earn tokens through gameplay and even just for being in the app. You can also buy tokens. There are 3 packs at $.99 $4.99 and $9.99
1000 tokens (Bronze pack) = $.99. A gold pack for $10 gets you 12000. I have 645 tokens and i played one game and started with 500.

1000 tokens can be traded in for one gold bar. You can buy tables for $9.99 or use 50 gold bars.

Obviously the key here is to earn the tokens instead of buying them as buying tokens would take you $42 vs the straight $10 purchase. Maybe there's a balance of buying your favorite table(s) and using plays on that to earn tokens to eventually unlock others. The real question is whether or not this model will work on PC VR. It definitely feels like the mobile market. It's got me confused enough that I'm neither buying tables or tokens on my first play through which I don't think is the intended outcome.

Clearly they spent all their time designing this token system instead of marketing and interface design.

Wait, you were actually abd honestly able to read the instructions on the table? Because I couldn’t read a lick, not a single insert even. Not my Rift, so I don’t know if it’s something in the setup. My friend said he had the focus set to 6’ or so so I’m curious if that was the issue? Thing is I had the same issue when I saw this at FarSight using their rig.

I had to get down close to really see the small stuff but it was legible if you put your face in the glass. I'm slightly far sighted and wear reading glasses or contacts but with the rift I can go without either. And I was reading the cards on MSF and Mustang pretty easily without my contacts in. AC/DC was a little harder but that's probably the black background. All of them were clearer than what I was looking at on FP tables. As good as that is, the DMD is the opposite. When they put it in your face when entering a high score it's super clear, but in current form it's not. Maybe different color options would be better there too. An option to move it in virtual space would be nice as well, albeit somewhat immersion breaking.

Visually the ramps aren't quite right either. The clear plastic is almost too opaque.

Is there a discount to get the different versions of the same table. Seems crazy to ask £10 for both the premium and LE versions. Weren't the LE versions a cheaper dlc option on xbox?

Also. Did other people have plunger issues? I seem to have to pull back and Jam it forward to get the ball to launch on start trek. Just letting go after pulling back doesn't give the ball any power.

I could read the instructions, which was cool. But I had issues with the view reset, especially when sitting down, it would be too low...then too high, then I would accidentally hit the x button...

I couldn't get the height set right either Mustang and AC/DC were fine but MSF was about a foot lower and resetting it moved it like 2 inches.

Just started it and it looked pretty impressive. The neccessary login was no issue for me. Most of us probably already own a Farsight account.

Unfortunately I couldnt play it. We definately need the ability to change buttons. I got no L2/R2 buttons, just L1/R1 buttons. I also plunge with my Y-Button. I could try x360ce, but I doubt this works. Are there any other guys that has these issues? Please help Matt.

Haven't been around for awhile, but I've got a couple of questions that perhaps you can help me answer. I'm friends with shutyertrap, and we've been discussing this for awhile now... I was in the beta, and on Thursday, there was an update... it "updated" to:
Stern Pinball Arcade (Rift), Version 0.82
Build for Test 9-2-18

The problem is, the build I was on in the beta was 0.84... Can one of you look and see what version you're at? I even uninstalled and reinstalled to be sure, it still downloaded 0.82.

The reason this is important: Several people here have mentioned features and abilities that are totally unavailable in the version I'm on... For instance, I CAN'T purchase tables... When I try it says I don't have permission... I can use an x-box one controller, but only L2/R2 work, L1/R1 do nothing and there's no option to change it. Also, I can use the touch controllers to navigate menus, but once on a table the controls do NOTHING, they're completely unresponsive. So, again, can you check your version and let me know if I've just, somehow, got the wrong version? Was anyone else here in the beta? Anyone else here having these issues?

Thanks,
LeRoy3rd

Hey mate,

I can't check the version at the moment. Had several oculus updates today, even a firmware update. Didnt try to purchase anything, because L1/R1 (Bumpers) do not work here, so I cant play anything.

I tried to bypass this by a game start on steam. It worked a couple of times (flippers too weak) and then SPA VR crashed every time I tried to play the table.

I'd really like to give 5 stars on the oculus platform. But I can't as long as L1/R1 do not work.

ver. 0.85, front button not working (U can use them 2 zoom in/out watching promo) R1/L1 works (touch grip buttons). I've bought acdc premium and after than when try to buy another - can't... mess with oculus menu and if U want to leave app must force that in Win.

Odd, the fact that you guys are on 0.85, and I can't get anything but 0.82 is frustrating and rage-inducing. I like to buy products to support devs, but it's getting to the point where i'll never buy another Farsight product again, pinball or otherwise... :-((

Does L1/R1 AND L2/R2 work for you? I think that I am on 0.85 as well, not sure. And it doesnt work here.

My guess is, whatever list they have my email on for the beta is keeping me from getting the current release... and instead of just pushing the release version to the beta people, they actually instead forced an older version... It's very frustrating trying to help Farsight, it's pretty obvious they don't care about us.

At least it's not just me! I've written Farsight as well, we'll see if they respond.
