I’m with you SYT. I enjoy the battle. The rule changes are ridiculous on this one though. I have 82k tickets. The changes say you now get one part per day if you watch an ad. Except you don’t because you get more tickets. I know you have their ear. If they want people to grind and watch ads they need to find a balance and stick to it. They were not that far off. A parts cap would have done it. The tickets are useless and should be eliminated.

The good news... I just beat a hard challenge. The bad news is the box wouldn’t open and eventually disappeared. Now it says I get a new challenge in 87,132 days. My great, great grandchildren will be gone by then. Awesome!

How often do you just play a regular game of pinball on there? Not a challenge or trying to earn something?
If your answer is never or rarely, then when you really think about it, in a way we are playing two very different apps. Neither play style is wrong or bad, we just want different things out of the app.

Almost never. If I want a regular game, I play FX3 on my PC. Interestingly enough, I rarely play the challenges in that version! I do a lot of tournaments instead.

I get it, there are those out there that only play using their mobile device. You want it priced and treated like any other system. The problem is most view their device as a casual system (me included) and therefore the freemium model makes more sense to Zen (and it’s that sort of data they are responding to). I truly believe both types of users can be served, mainly by running specials on in game currency once a month that savvy users would use to buy the tables outright for then the same price as all other systems.

Yes in game currency can be a bit of a labyrinth, but recognize that’s the whole point. It is the casino not making the exits clear, having no windows, and displaying no clocks. Admire how clever it is, and then be more clever and beat them at their own game. So don’t ask Zen to ruin the illusion by having an obvious purchase price, ask for currency specials to be offered more than once and equal to pricing of every other system. That way they can still snare the whales (term used for those that buy currency indiscriminately) while letting others that know what to look for get the fairest deal.

I have been vocal about my frustration since the Android version came out last week, but to Zen's credit they have made some really good improvements (particularly the hard parts cap prior to the pack 4 release, the 3 parts per table for challenge rewards in the timed challenges for the new tables, and less expensive challenge resets across the board).

I also really enjoy the daily challenges, they are what keeps me coming back, and you get a great adrenaline rush when you start to get close on a 1-ball game. The biggest problem now is that the model isn't straightforward to learn and understand, and I imagine would be especially confounding and off-putting for new users, as SYT suggests above.

Also, on Facebook, at least 10 people have asked how to just buy the tables outright, and Zen has not answered any of them. Maybe Twitter would be a better venue. But they definitely know people want to buy the table pack outright and are confused as to why they are not able to.

I swear I'm the lone voice around here that doesn't mind a grind model of playing. I get a thrill out of earning stuff without spending a dime.

I can see someone liking that, but here is why I don’t like it. They get us all excited about new tables, you wait for the app to drop, in this case having to wait even longer, then you finally get the app and STILL cannot play the new tables. If you are lucky you might get a challenge to play one of the new tables...if you’re lucky. But basically without spending an outrageous amount on money to rush through upgrades, you have to wait even longer. Basically you have all this stuff you can’t really play with.

To me that is like hyping Christmas up to a child, and then on Christmas day showing only a photo of the kid’s new bicycle, and telling them maybe they can ride the real thing a month from now. Perhaps letting the kid sit on it once in awhile. But still no riding it anywhere.

THAT is what grinding things out is like for me.

My biggest issue is....
Pack 1 you could purchase
Pack 2 you could purchase
Pack 3 you could purchase
Pack 4 unable to purchase
Curveballs like that are not a pleasant way to treat your customers. That’s why I’m a bit irritated. But I still have faith they will make it available for outright purchase.

GOOD NEWS! You are right! Zen posted this bit of news this morning on Facebook:

Keep an eye on the in-game store this week - new options are coming!

I do play a ton because of the challenges. Now that they let you reset the challenges for almost nothing in tickets I've been grinding my fool head off. Playing as much as I can. No more banging my head against the wall on one ball Champion Pub. Here's your 5 tickets I'll play survival Medieval Madness thank you. I've gone from having only one table at 3 stars to all but one at three stars (just need to build back up to 3,000 tickets should take 2 days) and most everything is half way or almost to 4 stars. With this new model I can play pretty much what I want for as much as I want and grind at the same time. I've really ignored the new tables for the most part because I've been grinding so much. Plus they kick my @$$ and once you beat them you have to wait almost a week to play again. Ridiculous but that's another argument.

I fully agree about 1 ball Champ Pub. Hard pass.

Once I beat the new tables, they reset in 24 hours. The second timer, which for those of us on iOS most likely reads 5 days now, I believe is when the challenge is going to disappear completely. It is a “limited timed event”, and some on Android have said it went poof after that time.

Can anyone here comment/verify that the $10 table pack 4 has been offered to them? If so, is it a "Limited Time" offer again?

I do not have the new version of the app installed so I cannot verify this myself. Waiting for verification that the offer has been dropped so I can add funds to my iTunes account to be ready in case this is once again a limited time offer.

Thanks for any info.

Not showing up on mine. Just updated this morning. Wish Zen would get their act together. App should be fun not frustrating.

On Android, I never saw the offer. That is very frustrating. I was totally ready to buy when they released, now I have all the new tables up to 2 stars so they have lost the sale.

I reached out to Zen about a plain old purchase option for Vol 4 on iOS. Below is the response I received. I assume that is a No. Guess they aren’t interested in my money or in me playing their app in the future.

Thanks for reaching out and sorry about the delayed response!

We try to find the best possible pricing and unlock system that suits everyone - this is why you might find changes in the part bundles or the table bundles available. We'll try to be more consistent in the future regarding the new bundles.

Thanks for your understanding about this!
