Hitting ESC takes it out of fullscreen mode and speeds it up

I've had this issue for a very long time, and I never looked into it. If I want to pause or go to the menu during a game and hit ESC the screen goes black for half a sec, changes to windowed mode, and the whole game speeds up. If I hit alt+enter it's fine again of course.

Is there something I can do to fix this?

Same here - I'm running a 144Hz 2560x1440 monitor if that matches up. Alt Enter brings it back but it's a pain for sure.

You can assign another key (I am using Q). Now just don't press ESC anymore (easier said then done).

144Hz but 1080p.

Accessing the menu forces the game to run at a sped-up pace and drops it out of fullscreen mode... and they moved onto bowling games?

Have you re-assigned the key? That should fix it.
