Insanity Falls to RIVER targets

I feel a bit silly asking this but I've watched some gameplay videos and read the rule sheet and can't figure this out. Insanity Falls has an exit to the R-I-V-E-R targets. Normally the ball flies right past but there's something that will occasionally push the ball off Insanity Falls to the targets.

This has happened to me like twice in TPA and I can't figure out WHY this happens. Is there a specific reason it will do this? Thanks.

Yup, slow balls. This happens when balls have some ricochets when they enter the ramp for example. Then they don't have the momentum to clear the last 'hill' on that ramp

I've had it happen on the real machine too. Doesn't come up too often in real life or on TPA. I get a kick out of it every time.

The exit is only there to prevent the ball from getting stuck. The ball is supposed to travel past it, but anything can happen in pinball, and some times the ball won't have enough momentum to continue up the ramp.
