Possible solution for graphics slowdown on Nvidia;
Manually set the file Pinballarcade11.exe to use Nvidia graphics instead of integrated graphics. This is done in Nvidia 3D settings.

I had to do this for my laptop with Nvidia 840m Graphics, otherwise TPA used the Intel 4400 graphics resulting in very poor performance.

And THANKS Mike and Farsight for TPA with DirectX 11 :)

Would there be something equivalent to this for for the AMD Radeon graphics cards? Just having another option to try and narrow it down would be nice (especially since I'm probably at least a month away from being able to save up for a new computer).

Yes I think I'm on my way!
When checking nvidia 3d settingsfor different programs, pinballarcade11.exe wasn't even in the list! I had to manually add it to run under nvidia!
Only problem is I have the speed up bug now instead!
But anway thats probably easier to solve!

Edit: Ok now I set dx11 settings to highest, as they were to begin with, and it works!

Edit: Okay now I'm getting occasional slow downs during playing, don't know what activates them. But that's for fine tuning.
For the speed up bug set your monitor to 60hz. Worked for me.

Looks beautiful and runs silky smooth for me. Once they fix the individual table bugs people are reporting, it will be perfect. The whole experience is brand new again. It's mind blowing what lighting done right can do. I tip my cowl at Mike and all those involved. I'm going to miss teasing you...

I have a 144hz monitor so I'm obviously running into the speed issue, but I also can't get the portrait mode to work. I've tried setting the backbuffer to 1080x1920 and 1440x2560 and I've tried having Windows running in both Portrait and Landscape modes. No luck at all so far, unfortunately. It's letterboxed 16:9 regardless.

It's impossible to go back. I tried, I really did. It's just so bad in comparison I can't do it. Going to wait for portrait.

I'm coping. Just. It's so damned cramped though!

Playing with light settings - what works for one table doesn't necessarily work for another. 20% is a good level I like, but trying to play POTO at 20% the far end of the table is pitch black. I can't imagine what it's like at 0%. Frankly anyone playing at 0% is nuts, maybe that'd be like a tournament challenge setting. Play all tables at 0% lighting. Good luck.

People with slow downs probably don't have powerful enough graphic cards.

I was worried about my PC not being able to handle the DX11 upgrade,but so far,having played four tables all seems well.
Keeping my fingers crossed...

tested all tables on the highest settings ,what can i say BEAUTIFULL !!!even allowing for bugs THIS WAS WORTH WAITING FOR !!! :cool:

Yes, going to the Nvidia control panel and setting everything there is recommended since day 1, also for the dx9 version. Just hit OVERRIDE and you can set max csaa etc

For all the AMD users I think there are similar things with game profile settings in the ccc, or there is the great program radeonpro (don't know if something more recent exist).

Is it just me of do the tables sound so much better, just a hint more clear and crisp.

Anyhow, really enjoying the DX11, it is like having all new tables. :)

(Not a bug report, just feedback.)
In DX11 I notice that all the lighting on the playfield is circular, even the dynamic shaped lights, such as arrows and lightning bolts, which leaves part of those shapes unlit. One example is the Addams Family arrows. One big light on the head and a smaller light on the tail. Another thing is that those lights bleed over the edges of the shapes onto the wood to make a perfect circle shape.
Is this how it would look in real life? I may be wrong, but shouldn't the light spread to the other areas of the shape? And wouldn't it not bleed over onto the wood like that?
Is there no way in DX11 to create dynamically shaped lights?

everything definitely looks better for me even outside of the lighting. The Dx9 table always had issues with AF not working well and textures sparking. especially tables like JunkYard(the blueprint would shimmer when the camera moves) and POTO.
Now AF seems to be working perfectly and all moire effects are gone.

I'm having this exact same problem. Tried all of this and runs in 16x9 letterbox. Can anyone confirm this works in portrait? If so, did you have to do anything other than what is in the instructions to get it to work? Just don't want to keep wasting time with it if it doesn't work in portrait. I can wait another week if necessary but would really like to get it to work if possible. Thanks!!
