On-line play and tournaments?

As I look more into the pinball simulation offerings, I am trying to figure out which platform offers the best head to head on-line competition and tournaments. It seems to me that Pinball Arcade is lacking in the tournamant offering, and I don't think I have ever seen the on-line system actually work. Am I missing something, are there other pinball simulations that have more robust competitive modes? Thanks

Pinball Arcade is truly dead as far as competition is concerned, and high scores mean next to nothing now with people finding glitches and such. It's really just a "for fun" type of thing.
