PS3 DLC Impressions

More on the way , had a night's rest and some coffeee this morning and got The Bride to let me transform her , I'm not one to complain aboout the choices a game dev makes, but the ball's gravity seems set way too high , is the ball heavier or is there a new physics dynamic set in that says the tables are on a incline? Does anyone else get the same impression? Might take some getting used to , it's like the game has had difficulty notched up.

I have the same impression with Bride and Fun House.

I've been wondering about something that may or may not fit this thread, but what do people mean when they say the ball goes through the flippers? I know about the thing in the black hole lower playfield left flipper, but other than that in probably well over a hundred hours of playing the original 4 tables I've never seen any balls go through flippers. Is there some specific spot I can see this happening at or am I just blind?

Never had the "balls go through flippers" problem so far, thank God.

I almost hope it isn't fixed, so I don't "have" to buy the DLC 3 times :) (playing on PC is a bit of a pain). Will at least do the demo tonight to see the new lightshows :)

Nope, lag not fixed, might be a bit improved though, likely will wait till 360 dlc unleashes and keep myself busy with dotp13.

guh. What's up with the high score on BOP being set at over a billion? The rest of the high scores are 16 million and under.

Here's another video highlighting the 2 of older tables , TOTAN and TOM , sorry my FunHouse was far from my best . I'm still learning that game , and it and BlackHole are very tough learning curves .

See that giant heart in the center that says "1 Billion When Lit"? It's that shot that does it. Consult the table instructions for how to light it.

I have the same impression with Bride and Fun House.
Bride I don't feel/see it, maybe a small increase in incline. Fun House in the demo feels like it is indeed on a quite steeper incline. Not that it bothers me at all, I like the variance.

Rather that than the floatier physics of CV that still feels a bit too light around the flippers. I hope they tighten those a bit more with DLC 3.

I'm not sure if this is a glitch or not, but twice now on Cirqus Voltaire, I've had the ball fly THROUGH the right side of the field and off the screen into space, never to be seen again (another ball then appears on the plunger)

That happen to me too...

Just to let you know the 2 balls in the plunger issue has been fixed and will be in a future update. Unfortunatly it got fixed after the submission to Sony.

Usually it happens on the first ball, if it does, if you quit and restart it should go away.

Stunning work on CV. The lighting effects on all 4 new tables seems far superior to the initial 4. I hope the flashers on ToM and TOTAN get revised to the same standard sometime.

All the tables are so dark that it feels like I'm playing them by candlelight! A bit of ambient light would be nice. Even in bars there's normally a bit more light than in TPA. Would love to see a room light on/off option. :)

CV got a bit confused when I started Join The Cirqus, taking a couple of solenoid firing cycles to locate the ball and kick it out of the scoop. Disturbingly like the real thing! Also managed to lose a ball and go to a three-ball multiball during Unmask Voltaire.

Much nicer weight to everything, although it reminded me that you really need to fix the left 'peasant' ramp lane guide in MM. Such an annoying drain that was deliberately fixed on the real thing.

After some more playing on Bride it's kind of a worthless table for scoring overall. I made 1.7B in my high score game from not-billion shots, so even if the table had separate leaderboards it wouldn't matter much since you can hit the lower cap far too easily. As a side note does anyone know if the scoring caps at 10 billion? I drained some balls because I didn't want to risk testing it.

All that said though, the table is aesthetically and theme-wise one of the best ones out there so I can't fault farsight at all for including it. If you ignore the scoring/rule problems it's easily one of the best tables I've ever seen.

One interesting thing I noticed when testing ToM again was that the captured balls on the left seem to have lost texturing or something. Is that an oversight or are they painted pure white on the real life table? It's really a silly thing to complain about but I was pretty surprised since they were proper chrome style before this update.

I noticed this as well and it is the same thing with TOTAN. I'm not sold on how dark the core tables DMD looks now (think it looked way better before).

I'm wondering why they changed the captured balls, too.....and the DMD could be a bit brighter, but it definitely looks more like a real DMD now (not the brightness level, but just the overall look).

If anybody is finding the tables too dark, try adjusting the brightness on the TV itself. I'm noticing the lighting in Sinistar's videos is much darker than mine. Might be the reason why I'm loving the lighting while others don't.

I believe YouTube itself adds to the darkening effect...didn't we have the same issue with FarSight's CV teaser video?

That's right, I remember that. Still, check out the brightness. I am not finding ANY of the tables "too dark".

I wish I could check out the brightness. However, I'm still stuck in the Xbox 360 boat with its inferior lighting package...so there are no problems with excessive darkness currently...
