    My Pinball History

    * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *My Pinball History * I have been playing pinball since the Sixties. Seen a lot of change, thanks to transistors, motherboards and computer chips (or aliens). Every pinball machine I saw drew me towards it like a moth to a flame. My...

    The 4th of July

    * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The 4th of July * Usually, I blog about about things that have to do with pinball. After all, this is a forum about the silver ball. But I thought I would spend a moment to say what the 4th of July means to me. * For a great many people, The 4th is a time to hang...

    Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo

    This weekend, I had the opportunity to spend some time at the Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo. It was the result of a successful Kickstarter project that I participated in. While billed as a gaming convention, and there were a few machines other than pinball at the convention, my reasons for...

    My Very Own Pinball Machine

    * * * * * * * * * **My Very Own Pinball Machine * Ever since I started playing pinball, I've dreamed of owning my own table. I would play it every day! It would be in my bedroom so I could go right in there anytime I wanted, instead of being in my parents living room. * One day, on the school...

    Tournaments and League Play

    * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * As much as I enjoy playing pinball, I have never played in a pinball league or in a sanctioned tournament. I say "sanctioned", because I've played probably thousands of impromptu tourneys. Not for money prizes or trophies, but bragging rights of...

    The Sport of...Pinball?

    * There's an ongoing debate among many sport fans whether NASCAR should be considered a sport. Each side, of course, feels it has the facts that proves their case beyond a shadow of a doubt. One point says that a sport requires conditioning, like lifting weights or running or any type of...

    My All-Time Number One Favorite Pinball Machine

    * It was August 1978. Within shouting distance of September. South Carolina in the summertime is muggy hot, from the time the sun comes up until a rain shower briefly cools everything down. After that, the breath-robbing humidity returns. The night brings only slight relief. I worked second...

    Zen Pinball

    * * No, I'm not talking about the app. * (Cue the sitar music...) * I'm talking about playing half of a table, controlling a flipper, with another person playing the other side. This style, this method, really illustrates just how well we not only play the game, but how we interact with...

    Pinball and Karma

    * A while back, OmegaDef wrote about in his blog two guys stealing the games he won during a tournament. I made the comment that pinball karma will come back around on them. We've all seen it happen, someone loses a ball, then slam tilts causing everyone to lose the game in progress. For the...

    First impressions on "Whodunnit"

    First, I really like the "Peter Gunn" theme song. The jazzy-nightclubby-bluesy music is nice, too. The play can be fast but if I can get used to BK2K, I can deal with it. Too bad about Trixie, though. I'm gonna miss her...

    Pinball & Music

    * * * * I love to listen to music while I play pinball. Many places that used to have pinball machines also had a juke box, so while I played, I had the advantage of listening. Sometimes, the music wasn't exactly my cup of tea (once played "Lawman" while "Tiny Bubbles" by Don Ho was playing...

    There are only three things better than pinball...

    Bug Challenge Mode

    I love the Challenge Mode, it gives me increased incentive to play well by allowing only three games before starting over. I've completed two of the challenges on beginner levels, but the Williams and Season One challenges both kick me completely out of not only the challenges but TPA. And it's...

    iOS - Bug TPA keeps kicking me out...

    ...of both "Bride of PinBot" and "Gorgar". After I open the app, and select the table, when I press the Start button, it simply boots me out. It isn't a hardware issue, as I can play other Williams tables as well as other tables. Please let me know if you need any further information.

    Bug Flipper buttons don't change the upper lanes

    As I was playing while The Wife was watching "The Taste", I noticed the upper lane bonus multiplier light didn't move when I pressed the flipper buttons. I coulda sworn they did change the light before. Or, maybe I was watching "The Taste", too...

    Is it just me, or...

    ...am I going crazy? On every table of TPA (iOS), there are a series of ghostly rectangles, the corners of which are not connected. If this is an early April Fool gag, or hey, let's haze the new guy, OK, you got me. But, if that's not what it is, then what is it? They don't show up on any...
