I've read multiple articles where MS executives said the 360 lifespan should be 10 years. So I suspect support will continue for a bit even after the launch of the new generation system. Looking forward to May 21st, when they give the first info publicly on the new system though.
Okay, I'm late to the news and I'm slightly disappointed as I thought this would be a release announcement as opposed to a "we need money to develop", announcement. $400k for a game with 80% of it's assets already created, Wowzers! Wonder what Pat's fee was negotiated at?
Too bad you can't sell your DLC to someone else via ebay. It would most likely demand a premium price due to its rarity. Kind of like the "Raspberry Pi" $35 mini computer. Speaking of which, I cant wait to see what pinball games get ported to it. Although, I expect the Pi's games to be more...
Oh man, that will screw up the leaderboards for sure. Too bad there is not some way for diehard fans to help them beta test before public release. I hope they can release a fix and reset the leaderboards to zero for a fresh restart.
"pushed things to the limit, and wouldn't it be a shame if we didn't try to do the same again!"
Okay, now my mind is thinking of all kinds of possibilities, hopefully this same attitude extended beyond just a portrait mode during your development. Cant wait for the official announcement and...
This table seems easy to me too. If you're not scoring well, you need more practice nudging the ball. I'm worried that closing the flipper gap will make the game even easier. Are we sure there is a flipper gap, as compared to the original machine, or it it possible the flipper orientation is...
Ha! Or all the missing/lost balls from every game we've ever played will show up via a Star Trek worm hole, when that table finally shows up. Hope they are not in companionship with the Borg.
Never picked up PHoF Gottlieb, although I do have the Williams one for Xbox 360. How is it overall? Are the physics weaker and noticeably improved now days? It was explained in another thread that the scripting that was written for the older games was brought over to the new TPA engine, but...
Also, be sure the response time of your display is set to its fastest mode if available. Or, use your "Game Mode" if available, which minimizes display processing in an attempt to reduce input lag. 720p vs 1080p could be your display introducing the lag rather than the game or xbox hardware...
Collision detection in TPA is a part of its physics. Hope for a FarSight employee, most likely Mike, to chime in on what they've found out and if they've been able to duplicate in the studio and their theory to what's happening with thier physics/framework as seen in the video.
I agree 360Hz may be too high. I was just making a point that other games do have their physics running faster than the games visual frame rate. BTW: the following forum post (another forum) says the new Forza Horizon game physics will also run at 360Hz. LINK But, that game will have a visual...
Fantastic work superballs. Nice video capture and editing of the slowed down version to really show what's happening. It should be very useful to the dev team. Too bad you didn't capture at 60fps, but this still show the issue well.
It does seem logical that the sample rate of the physics may...
Just an update to my own post from a couple days ago, I have switched from playing TPA/Xbox on my 50 inch HDTV to a 24 inch computer monitor and the difference is dramatic. Much better looking image with more shadow detail and I have acclimated to the new graphics and they are growing on me...
I never played that one, but I played lots of "Pinball Dreams", "Pinball Fantasies", and "Pinball Illusions" on the Amiga way back when.
