Hi netizen

I did not know about the little wing table until now , it looks pretty awesome. I dont have an apple device so I cant try it out.

At the top of the castle ramp is a mechanical disc that changes the ball path. In this current render I attached here it will channel the ball to the right and into the pumpkin patch. If the disc is rotated it will channel the ball down the left hand side of the castle. From there the ball will either be fed back onto the table or enter the church, the church will be opened via some kind of game play mechanics and the cross will light up on the roof. The church may have a mini playfield mission to do. The witch will have a roll in game play but not the area she occupies.

I would like to have proper audio for the table this time , I have not got to that aspect of development so Im not sure how to go about getting some proper sounds for bumpers and flippers and slingshots yet.. but i really want to up the production quality all round so good audio is very important.

The slingshot models are kind of meant to be slime/green ooze monsters. Im sorry you dont like them ;(

The pumpkins are raised up on stumps , I guess I was thinking about a traditional shape bumper when doing the design. What do you suggest , removing the stumps and having them flush on the ground? This could look better. I need to upgrade the pumpkin model then.

thanks for the input and future support.

thanks Kolchak357 and Ken_Clark for your name suggestions, all suggestions are considered and will be factored into the final table name ;)

Looking at the way the bumpers are arranged, it looks like the ball will generally spend a LONG time in there, which could kill flow. Doesn't look like it has a lot of space to escape. I could be wrong, of course. Only you know that for sure.

The slingshot creatures are more just a preference issue. I am not a fan of the dancing figures on the playfield due to distractions and if the modeling/animation gets too out of hand it can interfere with view of the ball in the in/out lane areas. it's nothing to do with your artistic choices.

I'd have to second Espy's comment that they look a bit too large and it gives the visual appearance that there isn't much room for the ball to escape, but with the digital realm this could be an optical illusion. Maybe make them smaller with a bit more accent, or try only having two, and reposition them, if you want to keep them large; just some ideas.

The styling could just be a preference thing, so take it all with a grain of salt of course, and this will obviously depend on how much you want to animate/emulate the appearance of actual bumpers. It'll be easier to show a picture rather than trying to describe what looks off to me.

Here's a close up CAD rendered pop bumper: http://www.pinballdiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/pop-bumper-color.jpg

A close view of a pop bumper on a playfied: http://pinballsoul.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/pop-bumpers-pinball-pop-bumper.jpg

While there is the contrasting playfield design element to highlight the bumper, the thing that stands out most, imo, is the bottom plate of the bumper, as it is the contact that the ball hits to make it "pop".

Again, this is a combination of aesthetics and how your physics are set up.

The ruleset should be less linear than in TT. The game should not consist of modes only. Looking forward to try the table.

Thanks Zorgwon

I will try to make a broad non linear ruleset on this table ;)

I have been making good progress , I am building the full pc version first so when the gameplay is eventually alpha and beta, that's where testing will happen first, I will do the mobile ports from that version. I have the models in the game engine already and have been tweaking shaders and testing using real time lighting in the most optimized manner. I will try make a video of this to share soon.

btw..

If there are any very wealthy people one this forum who perhaps have some spare change laying around .. something like about $1500 let say, and are wondering what useful thing you could you do with this small amount taking up space in your wallet so you can make room for some bigger notes..

you could purchase a Unity Pro licence for me and then I could have access to pro development features like render textures and use some really cool plugins like candela screen space reflections..

(ducks)
hey it was worth a try haha

ok back to work

hello everyone,

I just finished rebuilding my lighting sequencing code and have a sample to look at, better than a video , here is the actual table and models running in the engine ;)

I also rebuilt the low camera angles ball tracking algorithm.

The flippers are active and you can even launch a ball into the table but there are no game play elements at all and the table has some colliders missing etc but you can get an idea of the physics.

This is not a mobile version as there is way to much dynamic lighting but even so the performance is great on my low end pc with on board graphics.

No offence to the maker of this. But why do people make a horror table when mostly adults are buying them by putting in these skulls and monsters or what have you that look's like it came out of a 5 year old children's Halloween book .I mean there is nothing creepy about this.I really wish someone would make a real Horror table or horror movie themed tables like Psycho.Friday the 13th Texas Chainsaw Freddy .I wish i could direct a game maker in some of my idea's i could make a very brutal, scary,,bloody, creepy, horrifying Pinball table

Just wanted to point out that saying "No offence" then suggesting the graphics came out of a five-year-old's halloween book is like saying "with all due respect" then disrespecting the person you're speaking to.

You make some sweeping generalizations that beg calling out:

* How do you know who the intended audience of this table is?

* Perhaps making it bloody/gory/creepy would actually alienate it from a wider audience. A growing number of kids actually play pinball today.

They probably can't make the tables you suggest and then try to sell them because if the games got popular, the lawyers would be knocking on the dev's door seeking royalties. However if the tables were inspired by these franchises, then that is a different story.

Sorry i did not look at it that way.

Hi Everyone

In between some contract work Lots of progress has been made , most importantly .. I changed up the design. I spend a vast amount of time studying real pinball tables on youtube , then adjusted my design. I also tweaked my physics way better than ever before based on what I was seeing in these videos. I have prototyped the new table layout and physics and it plays very nice. I dont have a demo yet but here is a quick render of how things have been changed up. ( brightness of table lights not adjusted , no directional illumination .. low sample render so just a WIP preview )

Ah almost forgot , I went for a simple title : "Monster Movie Pinball"

Wow, that's a massive difference! Great decision on lighting!

Really looking forward to alpha/beta testing this now, when you get a chance to package it up.

Very nice!
I may have missed it, butt are you building in unity from scratch or are you using the Unit3D Pinball alpha?

Thanks guys

I may have some much needed contract work coming up soon (html5 work) , got to keep the wolf at bay again. So I will be busy with that for about 2-3 weeks before I can get back to working on the table.

@jaredmorgs how do I update the thread title?

@mpad I built the table from scratch , its my second pin now. I love future pinball and the Unit3D porting tool is awesome, but designing tables in the future pinball editor is not something I ever want to torture myself with ;) Hats off to the guys that have pumped out so many tables using that tool!
