Seems like it would have to be with all the PlayStation logos in the teaser and the "See the future" comment on Twitter that linked to the video.
I'm hoping it won't be too expensive.

PS4K? I'll wait a year before even thinking about 1 like I did with PS3. I only bought PS3 because I knew GT5 was coming then they pulled the PROLOUGE over my head...still loved it. I may pass and spend it on a pin<---Did I just say that! My PS3 does everything I need (I'm on 1 now) DVD/BLU-R, NETFLIX, PS-store,PORN Oh and games too :)

I can't resist a Gran Turismo. So if I don't already have one I will whenever 6 comes out.
I don't need the games to look too much better, but I would love the AI to improve and to see a full field of different class cars on the 24h races. That would be amazing.

Exactly what I was thinking. As and when GT6 comes bundled, that's when I'll upgrade.

I can't see it having many games at launch.... unless it also supports PS3 games...

I have GT5, so I don't see what I'd do with a GT6. :) As a fan of many genres that are usually perceived by the outside as being all variations of the same game (pinball included), I still say realistic racing games are, by definition, too similar to remain interesting with each iteration.

I am. I'm actually surprised they're gonna get them out this year. I figured 2014 for sure. But hey, great news. Gaming in general needs a kick in the butt.

I thought GT5 was a major let down. Just like the PS3 itself.

I have been over this gen for quite some time.

To the "too soon" cats, you realize ps3 will be 7 years old by ps4 launch. Thats an entire quarter of the life ive spent on this earth so far. I don't know what planet you come from but to me 7 years is an eternity. I was there in 2006 at ps3 launch, in 2000 for ps2 and although I chose the Saturn, I was there in 1995 for ps1.

Normal console life cycles are 5 years, not 8. Nobody was forcing you to dump you Super Nintendo that you bought in 1991 in the toilet for a n64 which launched in 1996. Just because PS4 is FINALLY coming doesnt mean ps3 and 360 are suddenly going to stop existing. PS2 got Final Fantasy XII and GOd of War 2 the same year as ps3 came out!

So in other words, just cause you got a ps3 in 2010 or something doesn't mean it's "too soon" for new hw. This has been the longest console generation in history, so don't be ignorant.

It probably surprises people to learn that I really love Sony hardware, considering how hard I **** on the PS3, and why I'm a 360 only gamer this gen and why I've only owned a 360 since 2006.

Even though I preferred Sega Saturn and Dreamcast, I still loved PS1 and 2. And if we flash forward to 2005, during the beginning of the 360/PS3 hype, with Sega dead I was pretty much a Sony fanboy. I wrote off the 360 as "Xbox 1.5", said it was way too soon (and it was, Xbox 1 only launched in 2001, a paltry 4 years later a successor is coming? What bull****, I thought.

And early on I remember ALL the Sony lies and hype. The way Sony was making it seem, and some of the gaming press, was that PS3 was going to destroy 360.

You had to be around for E3 2005 and 2006. Sony made huge promises that all turned out to be lies, showed us CG trailers lied and said it was real time, Ridge Racer Giant Enemy Crab Real time weapons change and then finally I was told to get a second job to afford a 599$ console.

When we finally did get hardware, it had an outdated, weak GPU, and the games ended up looking worse than their 360 counterparts. That was pretty much final straw for me. 360's amazing interface and superior online and features were just a nice, surprising bonus.

Sony has since lowered the price, has since improved the online, but I don't care for the Western library (Uncharted, Infamous, LBP, yadda yadda yadda no thanks), and the hardware still has problems with framerate and IQ in multiplatform games. It was and is bad hardware. Like Sega's Saturn, it's got more powerful CPU on paper, but in the real world the PS1 got the better results 9 times out of 10. And unlike Saturn, Sony's first party is a joke compared to Sega's back in the day. With a couple of exceptions, I do not care for Sony's first party one bit, and never have.

But now it seems MS has the bad hardware, going by early specs. Sony has learned from it's mistakes and I'm excited as hell for this new box. At 399 or even 499 I'm there, so long as the specs hold true, at this point in time, Xbox Durango isn't even on my radar.

I don't think it's "too soon" for a PS4, I just don't have any need for a new generation, that's all. The current generation has going on for a long time, and I personally think that's a great thing for everyone other than the console manufacturers who are in need of a new boost in hardware sales. (providing they don't repeat the business strategy of producing hardware that sells for little more than the production costs)
I'm not interested in new hardware until they can actually produce something distinctively new that will blow me away. I don't care about minor boosts in graphics performance, to me a new generation has always been more than that. And in the end, it's really about the games, and as long as I don't have to buy new hardware to play the best new games, I'm happy. :)

(SNES = more colors, more advanced soundtracks, etc., N64 = 3D gameplay, PS2 = Proper 3D graphics, X360 = HD games, etc.)

There's no point in buying consoles anymore. Only mid to late Gen, when they actually have games (that are actually worthwhile) do they become somewhat worth an inevitably reduced asking price. Although nowadays you can just build yourself a decent PC and then you will forget that consoles even exist.

I hope that they ditch the current controller design and actually go with something that is ergonomic. I am tired of having my thumbs hit together with the awkwardly placed analog sticks or my fingers slipping off the triggers. I have enough problems with the controller that it actually keeps me from playing games on the system and using it mainly as a bluray player/Netflix box.
