Smbhax, you're doing a nice job with the external poll but I have an idea for how you could integrate it into this site if you're interested. It would make the results more transparent here, particularly the details for individual tables, along with maybe a little more assurance that everyone voted only once. It would require some moderator assistance though obviously.

If a stickied ratings poll thread was set up in each of the table specific sub-forums people could vote right there and the results for the table would be immediately visible. Then all you would need to do would be to recompile the overall results from time to time. The moderators might be able to make the raw data easily available from those polls the same way it is for your site now. Just an idea to think about.

Disclaimer: I got this idea from gaming sites that automatically have a difficulty rating thread set up for every new game that is added. The moderators on those sites create that poll thread right when they create the new sub-forum for the game.

That's an interesting idea! Really each table subforum *should* have its own rating thread anyway. It *would* be kind of a chore to compile it all together, though. Also I wonder if having to go to all the different sub-forums wouldn't make it pretty tough to get participation....I kind of like having my vote thing with all the tables on a single page. So I'll leave your idea up to someone else. : )

What I should probably do is post the link on Facebook again. I don't want to spam them with it but I guess I've only posted it there about twice and that was months and months ago.

That's true, I suppose it would be more work for voters too having the polls be individual rather than all together in one list.

I don't understand why MM is adored so much. AFM does everything it does better in my opinion. It's one of the tables I keep going back to because "everyone loves it so I must be missing something", but fail to get anything from it.

Updated my list. I took out the tables that aren’t on my iPad since I don’t get around to playing on my mac very often.

At the low-end, 1s are machines I’d delete if I wasn’t too lazy and 2s are machines that I just don’t enjoy very much for one reason or another but -- when they come up on a random spin -- I’ll play them once. My only 3 is Champions Pub, which I want to like so badly, but I’m so bad at it I can’t say I’ve enjoyed a second of it. I keep trying, tho.

Everything else I really like!

OK, maybe this is not a place for commenting ratings. After all, it's personal preference but I really wonder about MB. It's one of the best Williams table and one of the best overall, I mean it's ranked #4 on ipdb, #2 on bmigaming, 3# on pinside, #15 on pinpedia....
So what is it that MB stays on 5, the same score as base score? What are "+" and what are "-"? For me, MB has everything but what really stands out from all other machines are audio comments, they are just hillarious and makes me play just one more game over and over.

it is not exactly rating of my personal favourites (i'm not in big love with Chumpion Pub, Gorgar or Cactus Canyon), it is more my rating of TPA tables (it is what title of this thread says - not real tables) based on rules i mentioned (for example two of my favs Genie and AFM got only 7 points).
about MB it was:
base 5
good theme implemetation: +1
good art/sfx (for table's time period): +1
missed/distorted table art elements: -1
minor game affecting bugs: -1
result = 5 (but i reaaally wanted to make exceptions for that and Genie and give them -3 for all this messed art)

My only 3 is Champions Pub, which I want to like so badly, but I’m so bad at it I can’t say I’ve enjoyed a second of it
to make progress on CP in TPA you simply must keep playing by strategy

You have two #4s because they're tied, which means that everything below there is really one notch lower than listed.

Yeah I thought about changing the numbering so for instance it would go 4, 4, 6 instead of 4, 4, 5, but eh it would take some doing and there are pros and cons either way.

I think the con that way is worse, since it screws up relative rankings. Next week when those are no longer tied, every other game will look like it dropped a notch, when really nothing happened at all. But up to you.

Well, that could be. ... Ah, I remember the tricky part with having ties skip the next number, it's when you reverse-sort the list, then it has to know to skip the next numbers *in advance*. Bluh! Anyway I got it running where ties will skip the next number, so "relative rankings" should stay the same. Let me know if you hate it and want to change back. ; )

smbhax, please update the survey with Junkyard.

I think this survey is GREAT and hope that people keep filling in/update their rating of the tables. (See first post for a link to survey)
My rating is rather close to the average rating.
What I rate much lower than average; Tales of the Arabian Nights, Cirqus Voltaire, Funhouse and Black Hole.
What I rate much higher than average; Gorgar (10 from me, love it) and Cactus Canyon.
