I always thought that the 3 year deal thing only applied for the auxiliary licenses. Because obviously, they would want to have the Williams/Bally license for longer than 3 years. Plus they have been making Williams tables since 2008, I believe.

Bally/Williams have absolutely no reason not to renew their licensees, they're basically profiting from assets that they've got locked away in a cupboard without actually selling those assets.

The only problem would be with fees, but having worked with Williams for around 5+ years you'd assume that they have a healthy relationship with them.

Yes. Bobby King said in one of his earliest interviews that they had a limited number of Bally/ Williams tables they could digititize before having to renew the license. Gottlieb was pretty much unlimited and, I think, so was Stern/Sega/DE. Anyone else wanna chime in on this on how they remember it?

Renewing the WMS license shouldn't be a difficult deal. They just can't make any more tables from Williams/Bally until they renegotiate, if they do hit their limit.

That said, we have no idea what that limit is or how close they are to reaching it.

1812 kind of strikes me as Party Monsters 2. And that's not a bad thing. Though that chicken is bound to get annoying... predicting another Dr Dude rapping moment...

To be honest, I don't mind the Gottlieb tables. Black Hole was the table that really got me into playing TPA (I like it the most from the start) and they have a charm to them in some way I can't really explain :)

It's nice to see 90s Gottys being included. That era of Gottlieb seems to often be forgotten, but I'm sure there are lots of great machines there. Lots of their machines from that era seem to have a kind of cartoon strip style that gives them a very playful feel compared to Williams and Bally.

I disagree.

T'eed Off is supposed to be one of the better Premiers and sheesh, it's pretty weak if you ask me.

1812 looks ok maybe even great but, everything else ... Uggg. YouTube Videos of Victory make me want to shoot myself. Ace High looks good but it's an EM. El Dorado looks passable.

Once those are "out of the way" I really pray we get back to Bally/Williams/Stern, a few DE's like Tommy and maybe a Sega or two. Capcom would be a welcome surprise.

I'm not hating Gottlieb I think they make fantastic EMs but the past few months: T'eed Off, Goin Nuts, and now Victory, they're just dragging down the overall quality of the game.

IMO Goin Nuts, El Dorado, Victory, T'eed Off, and Jive Time should have been left out and never considered for Pinball Arcade.

There are a lot of Gottlieb fans out there, though. I think we should embrace TPA as a platform for all pinball fans and accept the tables we don't like will be ones that others have been waiting ages for. Unless it is a real stinker...

They really should go for Stargate. It's one of the best pins I've ever played. Unfortunately, it's a license that isn't all that popular (the series has a lot of fans, but the pin is based on the less popular movie), so a kickstarter probably wouldn't be as successful as the previous ones.

Where?

I'm not trying to be a smart ass. Teed Off ranks really low on both Pinside and IPDB.

They have fans of the EMs. I'm one of them. Slick Chick would make me very happy.

El Dorado ranks high on EM lists. I think City of Gold is a SS sequel, maybe? So ill reserve judgement. And as I've said I think 1812 looks cool.

How would Slick Chick be any different than Goin' Nuts play wise? Oh you get to plunge, there's no timer? Seriously tho. Given how FS has been scripting their pop bumpers Slick Chick will be as unimpressive as Goin' Nuts turned out, IMO.

Had the pop bumpers on Goin' Nuts been done like the re-done ones on AFM or Dr Dude then maybe there would be a better game play, but sorry for us, they are the slack, one direction sensing ones like Firepower which alters the way the game will play.

Making a judgement off of the game in this condition is like saying "all pinball sucks" after only playing poorly maintained, or broken machines in run down arcades.

you dont understand anything in pinball either music (this table has arrangement of classic composition btw). pls buy some stern's Ironman or Metallica and leave us - "old farts" alone.
Iron Man or Metallica?? Only Stern I ever owned was Spider-Man, great game but playing on a Stern is totally different (and I didn't mean that in a positive way) then a Bally/Williams table. Same goes for Data East, they also play very different, not bad, but different. Sega I don't like to play at all....
I just like some more gameplay, games like eg centaur and genie make me want to just forget the whole TPA, anoying sound and boring gameplay...

My guess is it's going to be No Fear, Fish Tales, and Diner 3 pack.

Elvira likes to dine. We know this from her tables (BBQ Bonus). There's a picture of a car, mentioning laps so that's clearly a reference to fishing. And since she's driving a car with no hands, that's where "No Fear" comes into play. I do think Party Zone will be an unlockable in this pack though.

WOW, now I see it too!! Hell of a pack then!! Thumbs up!!! If only it were true....

Class of 1812 is from the 90's it was made in 1991!!!
Which is odd, 'cause it really plays more like a late 70's early SS.

To get a high score, you basically just keep going for the drop targets on each side of the playfield, and that's about what's to it. There are some other nice tricks, a mostly pointless multiball (at least when the left ramp is properly modded to make it harder to hit), and a guaranteed "random" extra ball if you know the trick, but the rule set is disturbingly shallow, so while I always like picking up a game of the physical table once in a while, I can imagine it gets boring fast in a digital remake. I'm glad to see it in TPA though.

For me The best Gottlieb pins were from the mid 1970's through the early 1980's. after that they started to just fall too far behind the other manufacturers.
Stargate (1995) and Class of 1812 (1991) kind of break this rule for me though. I'd like to see both.

Edit - maybe TX Sector 1988 & Bone Busters from 1989 too.

Oh so true.

Personally I think we have to few Williams classics from the late 80' in TPA. There is a ton of great pinballs without a outside license from that period. I would love some late 70' Gottliebs though :)
