Frank's got me curious about the ratings for xenon too. Going through some older threads for PAD, I've seen it mentioned as being over E10. But then again, BSD popped up a few times... And ended up being fine

As far as xenon, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have put it in a poll if was PAD material. That's proof right there. But it doesn't hurt to ask. As far as the 'rounding out', would that be allowed? Something about altering the prototype?

Nobody knows what the table would be rated, unless someone is part of the ratings board I don't know about. This is no more racy than Lara Croft ever was. Any info found in a PAD thread is pure speculation, as the only tables FS themselves have said would be an issue are Big Bang Bar, Family Guy, and the Sopranos.

I think Xenon is tame compared to bride of Pinbot, scared stiff and POTO. let's also not forget about the orgasm sound effects in Dracula. I actually think the Paragon playfield is racier.

TFTC has also been mentioned as PAD material, multiple times, by multiple employees. They've said as much on various Twitch streams. Personally, I hope they just give up on PAD, as it's doubtful to ever happen, and start including tables like TFTC. I don't think that table would really upset anyone.

Okay Xenon has all the charisma - it doesn't need to have big breasts with bells and whistles. Its' attract mode includes sounds and I think maybe it said "Xenon". The 'custom' speech is achieved using Texas Instruments speak and spell sound processor TMS5200NL which reads the voice patterns contained in 8 ROM chips on the vocalizer sub-PCB. Wish Bally Vector had this but I always liked the speech which is identical to 8 Ball Deluxe. About Xenon game play, it was very prone to SDTM because of the wider gap between the flippers - not only that, there is a psychological pressure that builds with the gradual speed increments of the synthi-cord I shall call it. As kids this table was not easily mastered. Also it was very satisfying to land the ball in the top sink hole. It was something of a science fiction dream with those airlock noises and the male/female android voices. I know this table is winning and I know why.

hmmm........ so, the game was just fine to be released for everyone 30 years ago (was there ever any law that prohibited under aged persons from playing it?) but now, in 2015 it is something that should be censored? But at the same time 90% of popular female artist sell their crap because of nudity wrapped around it.

I have actually not noticed the lady with bare breasts on Xenon before Frank pointed it out.(how is that possible??) I guess Xenon in the middle of the playfield is such a huge eye catcher so it is easy not to notice the other pictures on the playfield. I thought things like that was a no go in Farsight land. It deff. does not bother me, but it is not very family friendly either. (at least in the USA, I would gather)

I've been quiet because you can only beat a bush so many times before the birds start to attack.

I want Paragon very bad; however, it seems if you keep pushing it then some members get a little cranky. I still think Xenon is a LEWD table that should be the base game along with Elvira "Scared Stiff" in non-family mode. I am not sure there is any other tables in TPA that have non-family modes in the pro settings, but that would be the third game in the original Pinball After Dark base pack.

Then Paragon should be done for TPA because it is not a lewd table and Xenon would be the first lascivious table in TPA.

It is one table I won't play because I don't want to look at this image.(click image) I want to look at breasts and bodies that are sensually clad. Like both Elvira tables and POTO.

This is my last pitch for Paragon. I've know this for years that hormones will beat sensibility all the time. Look at all the unexpected pregnancies to prove my point.

Edit: I am no Chasity Pariah but I've shown that image to my cousins and they would not want their kids to see that image. They are okay with Elvira and barely POTO. I just don't want any children who are not ready to see this image to see it....The End

They're breasts, and cartoon ones at that. I'm more concerned about my children watching the news than looking at something as silly and non lewed as this.

My goodness.

If I had a kid I'd sooner let them play Xenon than the Walking dead. But then, I consider severed heads more scary than a set of abstract naked breasts.

Real simple.

Violence
- USA - No biggie
- Europe - Calm Down!

Nudity
- USA - Ewww. Gross. Cover it up. Think about the children!!!
- Europe - No biggie.

Screwed up. I know.

Anyway, I voted for Paragon MOSTLY for the reason that we already have plenty of robot/alien sci-fi tables and few fantasy tables - plus the game field looks more interesting. :D

Just two things. First: You know where the babies come from - right? They saw lightyears more than any pinball table in history had ever on it. There is no time when children are ready, because nudity is natural.
Second: All the unexpected pregnancies? What's "all the"? You know that they were normal just a few decades ago? Unexpected pregnancies don't happen that often. If you're conservative that should be a problem for you, not the other way round.
And third (okay have to say that): The Scared Stiff Non-Family Mode as standard made no sense. People who have such a huge problem with humorous sexual innuendos or sexuality overall should turn the family mode on by themselve. I think it was a pretty disrespectful decision against the developers of the original pin, to turn it on for everyone, to have people giving extra cash so that they can enjoy the original table and not giving them the possibility to compete with others while it's off. Sexual insecurity shouldn't be supported.

Depends on who you ask. (For those who got wind of various Twitterstorms of outrage last year, that "shirtgate" thing last year was also over stylized fantasy art like this.)

But for those who are not easily offended and sent into apocalyptic outrage over artwork, there should be no problem. There's more nekkidness and "titillation" in paintings and statues hanging up in famous art galleries. I will add that all those fine images that PostImage decided to ad as advertisements to that Xenon art posting was way more "titillation" than either. (Was this posted as an "adult" image by chance?)

Xenon to me is no different than Gorgar. Stylized fantasy art like that was "in" in the early 1980s. These pinball machines aren't no Heavy Metal for sure.

Williams Arcade Classics (PC) has Lost World, but it does not have original sounds (major drawback). Loved playing that game IRL.

I myself voted for Paragon to show support for it to one day make it to TPA. I'm pretty sure Xenon will win and will be a day one purchase.

I do not find Xenon offensive in any way personally but that is beside the point.

I feel that every time censorship comes up, everyone talks about what they themselves feel is right. It is of course not about that at all. It is about what is considered family friendly in general in the US and TPA is a family friendly game.

When Frank says that he knows people that would not show this to their kids, it just the way it is. Like it or not, Xenon is borderline for Farsight. Pinball after dark?, no problem, but borderline for the standard app.

Since they have included it in the poll, they have probably reached the conclusion that it is ok, however.

Most of us can agree that this machine tries (and also succeed) in being sexy, and not everybody wants their children to play that kind of game, no matter how innocent it is.

Since I am from Europe this is not such a huge deal for us. I do come from one of the strictest European countries when it comes to sex but we are nowhere near the norm in the US, i feel. Naked bodies and sexy is ok here, but pornography is not. Norway is probably one of the few countries in Europe that has never allowed Porn movies. We even have a unique law that forbids Norwegians to buy sexual favors when they are visiting other Countries.

Yeah, sorry, MontanaFrank, I see nothing objectionable at all here. In fact, if I was monitoring a child's visual stimuli, I'd be far more concerned about a three-to-twelve-year-old kid seeing the depiction of an execution-style murder (which shows up on broadcast television nightly), than even fully-frontally nude men and women. I don't support government censorship of sex, violence or language in any form whatsoever. Of course, that doesn't apply here as it's FarSight making the decision, not the government. But still, even if Xenon depicted completely photo-realistic naked breasts (let alone the stylized suggestive art it does have), I would be less concerned for children's (or anyone's) welfare than I would be by the violence depicted in several of the tables we already have. As for scandalized sensibilities, it's up to FarSight to determine if there are too many people who would not buy it, and thus make the game unmarketable. As it's included in the poll, I think FarSight believes the game is marketable, which is good. I think it would be a shame if something like Xenon was withheld because they thought there were too many prudes out there potentially getting the vapors by seeing art like that on Xenon.

Sorry, Frank. I'm glad you're a pinball fan, I'm glad you're a supporter of The Pinball Arcade, and I'm glad to engage you in conversation on this forum, but I can't countenance your objections to Xenon even a little. Stay Well.

I don't know if anyone has had a proper look at the Paragon playfield and backglass but personally I find Paragon to be the more explicit of the two. That bikini lady could use some thicker fabric! There's not too much left to the imagination. Plus, she's human. For me that's worse than some red alien sillhouette.

I too would rather not have this kind of content in a pinball game, but I put up with it. It's all perspective, I suppose.
